NASA Plant Turntable

This product tests how different exposure to the sun would affect plant growth from the international space station

The Design

Compounding Pulleys

The pulley route allows all 4 tables rotate at different speeds to allow NASA to test four separate growth rates at a time

Magnetic Top Grooves

The magnetic top allows plant pots to be stuck down in zero gravity, as well as having a red indicator mark to easily communicate the rotation for each plate

Design for Injection Molding

All surfaces feature a subtle draft angle for removal from the injection molding process

Inner Structure

All pulleys feature ribs for structural support from motor torque, as well as mounting plates for the electric motor. All features and walls are equally shelled for injection molding

Motor Mounting

The motor mount is designed to withstand twisting force with the minimally required face mounting due to low gravity
